- Yuliya Frolova, Zhytomyr, Ukraine (ranked 928th on the leaderboard) for her entry on Separating the Hope from the Hype highlighting the FOSI Global Resource and Information Directory (GRID) dedicated to making the Internet a safer and better place.
- Johannes Leuschke, Duesseldorf, Germany (ranked 38th on the leaderboard) for his entry on establishing a Consultative Council for the Security of ICTs. We like this because it recognizes the multistakeholder model necessary for ICT security.
- Alrasheed Altayeb, Sana’a, Yemen (ranked 111th on the leaderboard) for his entry on Disasters Information Map – Improve natural disaster prediction and response: “an integrated system that is designed to alert and notify disaster specialists and the related establishments of the disaster before it happens.”
- Tarunpreet Singh Maini, New Delhi, India (ranked 31st on the leaderboard) for his entry on The S.A.V.E. Life Project ; S- Signal A- Averting V- Violent E- Environment “to prevent the loss of lives in case of natural disaster by improving the response time to the catastrophe.”
- Shravan Kumar, Hyderabad, India (ranked 118th on the leaderboard) for his entry on Rain Fields: “A collaborative platform to build and manage rain water harvesting systems, Rain Fields would bridge the gap between people interested in implementing rain water harvesting, volunteers who have implemented rain water harvesting and design experts.”
- Phoebe Elizaga, Tacloban, Philippines (ranked 114th on the leaderboard) for her entry on Youth USWAG: A Machine Learning-Based Reporting & Monitoring System: “Youth USWAG (United for a Socially Workable and Actionable Governance) or yUSWAG is a scalable initiative which aims at injecting ICT for better governance by tapping the youth in a crowd-sourcing approach.”
- Anasilvia Salazar, Guatemala, Guatemala (ranked 2435th on the leaderboard) for her entry SMS for maternal and child health: which is a “system for sending information and remote assistance for pregnant women via the SMS messaging.”
- Buddha, Kolkata, India (ranked 88th on the leaderboard) for his entry Mobile-based Crowdsourcing Platform for Post-2015 Decision Making: proposing a new participatory mobile-based governance model.
- María Gómez de Olea, Madrid, Spain (ranked 33rd on the leaderboard) for her entry Create an interactive application for smartphones in order to improve the lifestyles of adults and young people but at the same time raising awareness: a “platform or application [that] will be a great for kids since the early-age as they will learn the key ideas of how to lead a healthy lifestyle and the dangers of not doing so as well as consuming drugs…”
- Joseph Kariuki, Nairobi, Kenya (ranked 229th on the leaderboard) for his entry Interaction – Games in education which emphasizes the positive effects of using gamification to encourage learning.
