Convocatoria Creative Business Cup Guatemala 2021 via #prodetur
The Creative Business Academy Americas will be an online Business Development and Internationalization course for Cultural and Creative Industries Startups in the Americas.
- 30 hours over three weeks of training, discussion and reflection sessions, plus 1-1 feedback sessions: Online meetings between experts and the individual startup to help them identify their most pressing questions based on their individual needs and possibilities.
- The speakers and mentors will be drawn from our global Creative Business Network. The language will primarily be English as the selected participants should all have ambitions of internationalization and the speakers and mentors will be mainly from non-Spanish speaking countries
- The call for applications ends on Friday, August 31
- PRODETUR will be selecting two (2)startups, that all fulfil these characteristics, to participate in the course:

- The Creative Business Academy Americas program consists of 30 hours over three weeks of training, discussion and reflection sessions, covering these elements:
▪ Challenges and opportunities for startups in the cultural and creative industries
▪ Business Modelling
▪ Basic legal issues such as contract law, trade law and dispute settlement, international legal framework relevant for CCIs, IPR with a national and international/regional scope
▪ Cases presented by startups from the Creative Business Network, both stories of successes and of failures in developing their businesses
▪ International trends and basic knowledge about selected export markets. How to choose target markets, basic analysis of the competitive situation and consumer preferences on these markets
▪ The advantages of a circular approach and sustainability (social, economic and environmental)
▪ Access to finance, Introduction on how to communicate with potential investors specifically relevant for CCIs, types of investors, how to approach, where to finance and how to, investment readiness, what business angels and venture capital firms look for
▪ How to pitch and how to make the best of promotional opportunities
▪ The reasons for internationalization: Market based analysis, internationalization strategies
▪ Overview of the general strengths, weaknesses and challenges confronting a CCI in view of developing an internationalization strategy
▪ Solutions and best practices to begin exporting: Going it alone, partnerships and networks management, identification of sales channels, domestic public support schemes to help a CCI begin to export
▪ The position and importance of competitors, observe, duplicate what others are doing, and how to meet the challenges on the international market for a CCI startup
- Outcomes for the participants:
▪ Ability to understand their current position better within the Creative and Cultural sector
▪ Substantially increased knowledge on how to generate and secure sustainable business growth
▪ Knowledge about basic legal issues relevant for all SMEs and startups and with particular focus on IPR issues to avoid copyright infringements
▪ Ability to identify, analyse and evaluate opportunities for potential international businesses
▪ Ability to use relevant methods and tools in connection with promotion
▪ Ability to establish, participate and develop networks and partnerships according to professional strategies, tactics and operations
The two guatemalan startups will be participating at no cost.
