Status Digital Agenda Guatemala 2023
- Digital government – new facilitation law for digital operations especially from rural areas, the first version of the government interoperability framework.
- Cybersecurity – upcoming law and efforts in all sectors including Conciber and private and education sectors.
- Open data – policy in development in new sectors, follow up on data protection law, addressing the governance aspect.
- Telecom – satellite contracts, frequencies licitations, new submarine cable, ordering of numbers, national digital for rural areas and projects in education.
- Inclusion – digital centers in rural areas and innovation hubs all over the country (over 200)
- e-health – projects in private sector mainly
- e-education – projects in civil society mainly
- Fintechs – projects in private sector, need to work on international digital payments and crowdfunding, we do have digital banks, blockchain and NFTs (not cryptocurrencies) but need to work on regulations.
- E-commerce – very widespread all over the country
- Telework – in use in hybrid working models but needs regulation.
- Artificial Intelligence – in use in academic and private sector but no regulation
- Nearshoring – private sector to US, Mexico, and Europe mainly.
- Agriculture and technology – private sector projects
- International funds and events – private and government are constantly organized.
- Digital solution for women, girls, micro and SMEs, rural sector communities and minorities – several initiatives are implemented yearly.
- Digital infrastructure – in cloud – new regulation in banking sector but uses local and international providers and developments in critical infrastructure for digital government.
